Dhaka, Jan 24: Striker Mithun's double struck helped Muktijoddha to reach the top of Grameenphone Bangladesh League when they defeated Sheikh Russel KC 3-0 at BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium today.
Mutijoddha coach is happy with the way his boys played but careful. “I am happy with the boys. Only five matches have been played but still a long way to go. Hope boys will remain their performance on top in the next matches.”
The game started with high tempo and both teams were brave to attack. The Mukti took the upper hand in the first half with some domination in the midfielder and they got the result within 18 minutes of the match.
Mithun, who took the place of leading scorer of this league with six goals, break the deadlock in the 18th minute of the match when he headed home from a set piece of Biplob hesitated to hold by Sheikh Russel Goalkeeper Mamun Khan.
Mukti defender and captain Rajoni made the score double in the 28th minute when his unmark header found the net on a free kick of Argentine striker Luciano Ariel from right hand flag.
All Red’s third goal came in last minute of the match while unmark Mithun tapped in from a square pass of Rana on a Bukalo’s cutback.
Sheikh Russel’s best chance came in the 86th minute, when striker Samir Omari’s shot saved by Goalkeeper Biplob giving a corner. Sheikh Russel coach Liton sent some attacking players in the second half, but an in-form Biplob denied all their efforts.
After this win Muktijoddha has increased their points from nine to 12 and reached at top while Sheikh Russel had been dropped down one step from the top with 10 points.
Despite of defeating, Sheih Russel coach Liton felt happy with his boys’ performance. I am satisfied with my boys’ performance. They played better than last match but unfortunately they didn’t convert opportunities into goal what the opponent did.”
