Jamal beat Russell 3-2
Dhaka, March 28: Defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Clyb Ltd. beat Sheikh Russell by 3-2 goals in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Russell took the lead in the 8th minute after forward Anwar Hossain snatched a ball from Cameroonian midfielder Yoko Samnick and beat Jamal goalie Aminul with a powerful shot from the top of the box (1-0).
Jamal leveled the scoreline in the 18th minute when midfielder Enamul Huq Sharif made the way for Nigerian forward Kester who shot past Russell goalie Biplob from the middle of the box (1-1).
Russell midfielder Emon Babu hit the crosspiece in the 46th minute.
Russell again went ahead in the 63rd minute as forward Yusuf curved a low cross from the right flank for Cameroonian striker Siankam Emako who placed the ball in the near post (2-1).
Two minutes later Jamal was reduced to ten men as midfielder Monaem Khan Raju was sent off due to the second yellow card.
Kester struck again in the 69th minute with a back volley after Russell goalie Biplob missed the flight of long throw in of Raihan Ahmed and Kester’s effort landed inside the net (2-2).
Substitute midfielder Mishu scored the winner for Jamal in the 81st minute with a nice side volley off a cross of Kester (3-2).
Jamal took their tally to 10 points from eight matches while Russell remained on their previous earning of 8 points from eight matches.
