Mukti pip Jamal 2-0
Dhaka, April 3: Muktijoddha beat defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd by 2-0 goals in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
With the win Muktijoddha remained at the top of the table earning 20 points from nine matches while Jamal remained on their previous earning of 10 points from nine matches.
Jamal would have taken the lead in the 7th minute but Mishu while trying to head missed the line of a Kester, the Nigerian forward’s cross from the right flank.
Muktijoddha took the lead in the 9th minute after Nigerian midfielder Divine Chibiuke took control of a headed clearance of Jamal defender Asif Hossian Rimon at the top of the six yard box and scored with a left footer (1-0).
Jamal goalie Piaruzzaman Piru’s fumble allowed Muktijoddha forward Sunday Chizoba score the second in the 32nd minute. Piru standing out of the box reacted late to clear a long ball shot by Emily and Sunday snatched the ball and pushed it into the empty net (2-0).
Kester missed the chance to score a goal in the 79th minute after Brazilian midfielder Everton fed Abdul Baten Komol with a through pass and Komol passed it to Kester , but the Nigerian shot wide.
