Abahani beat Farashganj
Dhaka, April 04: Abahani Ltd defeated Farashganj SC 3-1 in the Grameenphone Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
The win saw Abahani Ltd earn the same 20 points from eight matches to touch Muktijoddha but remained at the second position due to goal difference. However Muktijoddha has played one match more than Abahani. Farashganj remained with their previous earning of 7 points from 8 matches.
Abahani dominated the first half and was leading by two goals courtesy of midfielder Arman Aziz and striker Lucky Paul.
Abahani took lead in the 38th minute when midfielder Arman Aziz’s placing shot crashed into the net deflecting off a rival defender after defender Nasirul Islam cutback the ball from the right flag. (1-0)
Nigerian striker Lucky Paul Otofe doubled the lead in the injury time of the first half. Controlling a ball pass off substitute defender Md. Linkon, The Nigerian striker beat Farashganj custodian Shakil with a placing shot (2—0).
After the lemon break the Old Dhaka outfit came back in the game in the 61st minute when Congolese striker Siyo Zunapio tapped in on a pass off defender Rashedul Alam Mony (2-1).
Sbubstitute striker Tauhidul Alam sealed the victory for Abahani in the 73rd minute by a placing on a Lucky Paul square pass from the right flank. (3-1)
