MSC Ltd rout Rahamatganj
Dhaka, April 06: Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd returned to winning ways after barren six matches, beating Rahmatganj MFS 4-0 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
The win saw Moahammedan take their tally up to 9 points from eight matches while Rahmatganj remained their previously-earned 6 points from the same number of the matches.
Mohammedan charged early in the game and they were closed to the opener in the first minute but forward Shariful Islam missed to make home having one and one situation off a cross of Nigerian striker Basden Wincox from the left flank.
Shariful again came close in the next minute when his shot beat Rahmatganj goalie to home but denied by referee Tayeb Hasan due to offside.
Nigerian striker Wilcox broke the deadlock in the 41st minute with a chip after receiving a lob from Shariful Islam that was produced by a cross of Nigerian defender Dominique Johnson. (1-0)
The traditional Black and White doubled the lead in the 61st minute when Wahed Ahmed placed the ball to home from a through pass of Basden Wilcox.(2-0)
Winger Shariful Islam scored the third goal for Mohammedan in the 71st minute. Controlling a ball from poor clearance of Rahmatganj defence, Shariful beat goalie Shujon Chowdhury by an angular shot from the right side of the box. (3-0).
Striker Basden Wilcox netted his second and fourth goal for Mohammedan in the injury time by a header after a Shariful Islam cross from the left flank. (4-0)
