Jamal escape from BU hand
Dhaka, April 9: Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd drew 2-2 with Brothers Union defeated in a competitive match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Substitute midfielder Masud Rana who entered the field in the two minute stoppage time scored the equalizer in the last minute to save the defending champions from a possible defeat.
Jamal’s Brazilian midfielder Everton D Souza came close to a strike in the 7th minute after Cameroonian midfielder Emmanuel Ayuk fed Everton at the top of the box but Everton missed the side post from the top of the box.
Brothers Union’s Senegalese forward Habib Diouf in the 20th minute saw his head off an Olalekan Kazeem head fisted away by Jamal goalie Aminul. Aminul six minutes later denied Habib Diouf again whose headed ball was saved for a corner.
However Habib Diouf put Brothers ahead in the 35th minute after midfielder Jamal Hossain sent a neat through and Diuof beat Jamal goalie Aminul in the far post with a placing shot (1-0).
Jamal scored the equalizer in the 50th minute through their Nigerian forward Kester Akon whose placing shot off a Sohel Rana cross landed in the far post (1-1) .
Brothers Union was back to the lead again in the 63rd minute after Aminul brought Brothers forward Kingsley Chigozie down in the middle of the box and Kingsley scored from the spot. (2-1)
Brothers was reduced to ten men in the 70th minute when midfielder Jamal Hossain was sent off due to the second yellow card after he tackled Everton from behind.
Jamal’s effort of staging a comeback was successful through Masud Rana who entered the field only just a minute ago shot past Brothers goalie Uttam from a goal mouth melee.
Brothers has 11 points from 9 matches while Jamal took their tally to 11 points from 10 matches
