MSC continue winning spree
Dhaka, April 12: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting club Ltd. continued their winning streak beating Arambagh 3-1 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Mohammedan who beat Rahmatganj 4-0 in their previous match went ahead in the 20th minute off a penalty with Basden Wilcox, the Nigerian forward scoring from a penalty. Young forward Wahed trying to head a Shariful cross was pushed to ground and the referee Azad Rahman awarded a penalty. Wilcox scored his sixth goal of the season (1-0).
Arambagh defender Biplob Das saved his team from conceding another goal in the 57th minute as he cleared the ball from the goal line denying Mohammedan forward Wahed who placed the ball form the middle of the box.
Wilcox doubled the margin in the 64th minute after he dribbled past two defenders and beat substitute Arambagh goalie Shawon in the far post with grounder (2-0).
Wahed sealed the result in the 72nd minute as Shariful provided a neat cut back for him from the right flank and Wahed made no mistake to hit the back of the net from the middle of the box (3-0)
In the injury time Mohammedan’s substitute forward Rony fouled Arambagh midfielder Dalim in the middle of the box and Ujumefun Joel, the Nigerian midfielder converted the penalty (3-1)
In the last minute of the stoppage time Arambagh defender Prashanta was sent off with a direct red card for a violent foul on Kenneth Ochendo, the Nigerian forward of Mohammedan.
With the win Mohammedan took their tally to 12 points from nine matches while Arambagh remained on their previous total of 8 points from nine matches.
