Kazi Salahuddin vowed to complete the promised tasks in the next four years after he got the mandate to run the country's football in a festive Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) elections where he was elected the president for the second term unopposed.
The legendary footballer said he would like to work with all concerned to materialise his election manifesto and take the country's football forward.
"I have always kept my commitment and will do so in the next four years. I believe the commitments I've made are very realistic ones," said Salahuddin while talking to the media at the BFF House last night, after his re-election.
Salahuddin reiterated his three commitments to start football at the district level, start the proposed football academy soon and make the national team a strong one.
"The hardest challenge for me would be to take the game to a next level. However, I will accept anyone who wants to extend his support in order to achieve my goals," said Salahuddin.
Salahuddin dreaming big- Daily Sun
Kazi Salahuddin, the re-elected president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), vowed to add new dimensions to every sector of the federation’s activities after taking office on Thursday.
Salahuddin was confident of applying a new course of action within a few days. “I have learnt the mode and the mood in the last four years, and now I have a clear idea about the actions. The tasks will now be distributed and a foreign event management company will be involved as well. BFF will just monitor, evaluate and determine the course of actions,” said Salahuddin.
The president seemed focused on making district-level football happen.
“It was our election pledge and we are determined to roll football in the districts from August. Yes, it will not be possible to run the league in every district, but we will try to cover as much districts as possible,” said Salahuddin.
He added that coordinating the necessary resources will be the most vital part of his plans. “We will try to chalk out a strategic plan. I am pleased to see that the BFF election has drawn huge interest across the country. I hope to see new partners working with the federation,” said Salahuddin.
Roping in international sponsors was also in the mind of the president. “As a member of the Fifa’s marketing and TV rights committee, I will try my best to involve some foreign companies with Bangladesh football. If successful, it will have a positive effect on the game in our country,” he said.
Salahuddin faces new challenge as BCB bids for BNS-New Age
Salahuddin’s success in keeping the ball rolling in Dhaka was one of the major reasons for him to win for a second term without any serious competition and he is now planning to take the success to the district level.
Ironically, before doing so he is now facing a challenge to hold football in Dhaka on a regular basis as he has no alternative venue in the capital other than the BNS and the decrepit Kamalapur stadium.
‘I do not understand why a group of people within the sports arena always raises a proposal to use BNS for cricket whenever any big occasion comes,’ said Salahuddin.
‘I hosted many big football competitions here in Dhaka but did I ever go to disturb anyone?,’ he asked.
The BFF president later informed that he did not get any official notice regarding the venue yet while he added that he will try his best to keep football at the BNS.
‘I cannot say anything on this issue now since I have not got any formal notice regarding the BNS. I have just heard from you that somebody wanted the BNS for cricket but I promise to give my full effort to keep football rolling at BNS,’ added Salahuddin, who also said it is a very bad practice and harmful for country’s sports.
‘This practice of scrambling for venues is very harmful for the country’s sports because if you spend all of your time, labour and wealth only to change the fields for different sports then when the game will actually be held,’ Salahuddin said.
