BPL 2nd Phase kicks off Thursday
Dhaka, May 09: In the opening day of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League second phase Muktijoddha faces Farashganj at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and Team BJMC takes on defending champions Sheikh Jamal at Tangail Stadium on Thursday.
Muktijoddha finished the first phase on second position with 21 points and three points behind table toppers Abahani, while Farashganj currently is the bottom team of the table with 8 points.
Shafiqul Islam Manik, the coach of Muktijoddha hoped improved performances from his boys. “We have to play better in the second phase, what we played in the first phase, I think is inadequate to win the title.” said Manik.
“My team would have been in a better position if my forward line played better in the 10 matches, we failed to reach the height due to the weakness of our forwards, I have asked them to be cool and concentrating” said Manik.
His counterpart Kamal Ahmed Babu is ready to fight it out. “We have nothing to lose and will take the field with a positive mood, we are ready to fight it out” said Kamal Babu.
Team BJMC positioned third has 16 points while Sheikh Jamal ahs 11 points when they start their second phase campaign.
