Abahani down Rahmatganj 4-0
Dhaka, May 11: Luck Paul’s hat-trick helped Dhaka Abahani Ltd to start their second phase of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League with a facile 4-0 victory over Rahmatganj MFS at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on
Friday.
With the win, the league toppers Abahani Ltd took their tally to 27 points from 11 matches while Rahmatganj MFS remained their previously earning 9 points from the same number of matches.
The sky-blues strategy was attacking football and did so from the beginning and got results. Foreign recruit Lucky Paul put Abahani Ltd ahead in the 12th minute. The Nigerian striker angular placing hit the net off a square pass of winger Jahid Hossain from the right flank. (1-0)
Lucky Paul scored his second in the 21st minute beating two defenders Moshfiqur Uddin Shimul, Ddumba Micheal and goalie Shujon Chowdhury after receiving a through pass of Ghanaian midfielder Awudu Ibrahim.(2-0)
The top scorer Lucky Paul (13 goals) completed his second hat-trick of the season in the 48th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box after a through pass of midfielder Jahid Hossain. (3-0)
Fourth goal of the match also netted by Lucky Paul with a header off a rebounder from substitute goalie M. N. Shakil. The goalie punched on Jahid Hossain's shot. (4-0)
