BU win seven goal thriller
Dhaka, May 12: Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie hit a hat-trick as Brothers Union staged a superb comeback to beat Arambagh 4-3 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Benjamin Cooper the Liberian forward of Arambagh struck twice within the first three minutes and on both occasions Eleta Kingsley his Nigerian attacking partner provided the ball. In the 1st minute Cooper curved a left footer from the middle of the box on a forward push of Eleta (1-0).
In the 3rd minute Cooper placed the ball in the middle of the net after Eleta fed him with a square pass (2-0).
Brothers Union hit back in the 22nd minute with Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie placed the into the middle of the net after a placing shot of his compatriot Victory Anthony rebounded off the side post (2-1).
But Umokoro Goodwin, the Nigerian midfielder of Arambagh scored again in the 25th minute after Eleta Kingley made him free at the top of the box with back pass from the right flank and Goodwin hit a grounder in the near post (3-1)
Brothers midfielder Deedarul Alam scored the second for his team in the 42nd minute on deflection of a Khan Md. Tara free kick hitting the far post net with an angular shot (3-2)
Kingsley Chigozie headed a Kabir Hossain cross that was curved form the right flank in the 55th minute in the near post (3-3).
In the 60th minute Kinglesy placed the ball over the head of Arambagh goalie Md. Salim to slam the sixth hat-trick of the league (4-3) .
Arambagh won the first leg 2-1. The win saw Brothers take their tally to 14 points while Arambagh remained on their previous earning of nine points, both playing 11 matches.
