Farshganj scalp Jamal too
Dhaka, May 14: Farashganj arrived as the giant killers of Bangladesh Premier League defeating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd. 2-0 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.
Farashganj who beat Muktijoddha in the earlier match scored one goal each in the either half and the scorer was their Congolese forward Siyo Zunapiyo.
Siyo Zunapiyo put his team ahead in the 19th minute after Henry Chindo, his Nigerian attacking partner provided a cut back to midfielder A.M. Arafat in the middle of the box and Arafat send the ball to Zunapiyo who placed the ball in the far post net from the left edge of the six yard box (1-0).
Jamal forward Sohel Rana saw his header off an Arup Baidya cross in the 31st minute land straight in the lap of Farashganj goalie Sultan Ahmed Shakil.
Zunapiyo doubled the lead in the 67th minute and it was the same combination. Arafat send a through to Henry Chindo who passed square to Zunipyo at the middle of the box and the Congolese forward placed the ball in the middle of the net (2-0).
Jamal tried hard but saw their effort fell short of finishing touch. Batamec John Eric’s head in the 77th minute was grabbed by Shakil.
With the win Farashganj took their tally to 14 points from 12 matches while Jamal remained on other previous collection of 12 points.
