Dhaka, May 18: Brothers Union and Dhaka Mohammedan shared points in a 1-1 draw in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Mohammedan got the first chance in the 22nd minute when Motiur Munna pushed a neat through pass to Alfaz Ahmed but the experienced striker blasted the ball over the crosspiece from the edge of the box.
In the 26th minute Brothers Union’s Nigerian midfielder Olalelekin Joshua saw his free kick form 20 yards miss the Mohammedan crosspiece by a few inches.
Brothers Union’s Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie’s head on a Md. Javed corner landed inside the net but the goal was disallowed as the Nigerian fouled Rajani before taking the head.
In the 41st minute Oladikipko Okalawon, the new Beninese forward of Mohammedan saw his side volley from the six yard box cleared by Brothers defender Khan Md. Tara from the goalline.
Brothers took the lead in the 56th minute when their Nigerian forward Victor Anthony blasted a grounder past Titumir Chowdhury on a through of midfielder Md. Javed (1-0)
However Mohammedan hit the equalizer in the 71st minute as Rajani headed a Motiur Munna freekick and Brothers goalie Uttam Barua fisted it, the re-bounder was headed home by substitute forward Md. Rony (1-1)
Mohammedan was unfortunate in the 85th minute when Oladikipko Okalawon fed by Mobarak Hossain hit the sidepost.
The draw saw Brothers Union took their tally to 15 points from 12 matches while Mohammedan totaled 14 points from 11 matches.
