Dhaka, May 20: Muktijoddha thrashed Rahmatganj 4-0 in an eventful match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.
Sunday Chizoba and Mithun Chowdhury scored two goals each but Mithun was sent off in the last minute. Earlier Sirfin Rahman Rony of Rahmatganj also saw the red card. Sunday Chizoba put Muktijoddha ahead in the 7th minute as he dribbled past his marker with a through pass of Brazilian midfielder Lima and placed the ball in the far post from the middle of the box (1-0). Rahmatganj was reduced to ten men in the 20th minute when midfielder Sirfin Rahman Rony was shown red card for an off the ball foul on rival midfielder Nasiruddin. Substitute forward Mithun Chowdhury doubled the lead in the 38th minute after he received a low chip of Mamunul Islam at the top of the box and run a few steps before placing the ball past Rahmatganj goalie M.N. Shakil in the near post (2-0) Sunday Chizoba scored his second in the 69th minute, the Nigerian broke the defence playing one-two with Mithun and placed a left footer in the far post net (3-0) In the 82nd minute Mithun saw his goal bound shot saved from the goal line by Md. Shakil. However Mithun Chowdhury amended his failure in the 89th minute scoring with a left footer on a square pass of Sunday Chizoba. But a few seconds after his feat he was sent off due to the second yellow card. (4-0) Muktijoddha took their tally to 27 points from 13 matches while Rahmtganj playing their 13th match remained on their previous earning on nine points.
