BJMC pip Brothers
Dhaka, May 23: Team BJMC registered their fifth win in the Grameenphone Bangladesh League with a 3-1 win over Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
Team BJMC went ahead in the 3rd minute as Brothers midfielder Deedarul Alam fouled Nigerian forward Ajagun Abdul Rasheed inside the box and Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura converted the penalty (1-0).
BJMC extended their lead in the 6th minute and it was Bangoura again. The tall forward headed the ball past Brothers goalie Uttam Barua on a right flank chip of Ajagun Abdul Rasheed (2-0).
Brothers Union hit back in the 18th minute through midfielder Jamal H ossain who shot a powerful left footer from the top of the box in the far post net. Olalekan Joshua fed Jamal with a back pass from the middle of the BJMC box (2-1).
However winger Saiful Islam restored the two goal lead in the 42nd minute as he dribbled past his marker with a Ismael Bangoura square pass and placed the ball in the far post (3-1).
Bangoura missed the chance of completing his hat-trick in the 72nd minute as Uttam came forward to punch the ball to safety after Rasheed fed Bangoura with a cut back.
Team BJMC took their tally to 20 points from 12 matches while Brothers remained on their previous earning of 15 from 13 matches
