Jamal defeat Arambagh
Dhaka, May 28: Sheikh Jamal
Dhanmondi Club Ltd beat Arambagh 2-0 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier
League at the BSSMKS, Kamalapur on Monday.
Midfielder Monaem Khan Raju put
Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 10th minute with a diving header. Defender
Raihan’s free kick from the left edge of
the box was not properly cleared by Arambagh goalie Bishnu and Nigerian forward
Joseph Afusi saw his placing shot hit the
side post, the rebounder flew to unmarked Raju who did not make a
mistake to put the ball inside the net (1-0).
Arambagh tried hard for the equalizer
but all their effort lacked the proper finishing touch. Midfielder Khaled Ahmed
saw his cracking grounder saved for a corner in the 32nd minute,
Liberian marksman Benjamim Cooper put his team down twice in the 56th
and 63rd minute. On the first occasion he failed to tap the ball
past Aminul and on the second he placed the ball straight to Aminul, Eleta
Kingsley crossed the ball on both occasion.
In the stoppage time, Monaem Khan
Raju taking a back heel of forward Sohel Rana dribble past his marker and put
the ball in the far post with a low shot. (2-0)
With the win Sheikh Jamal raised their
tally to 21 points from 15 matches while Arambgah remained on their previous earning
of 10 points from the 15 matches.
