Dhaka, May 29: Muktijoddha and Dhaka
Mohammedan played out a 2-2 draw in a lively encounter of the Grameenphone
Bangladesh Premeir League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Nasiruddin
Chowdhury put Muktijoddha ahead in the 30th minute after he took control of a
Shakil cross in the middle of the box avoided the challenge of diving
Mohammedan goalie Titumir and placed the ball inside the with a side footed
placing shot (1-0)
However
Nduka Uwa, the Nigerian forward of Dhaka Mohammedan scored the equalizer in the
41st minute after Wahed snatched a ball from Muktijoddha defender Ariful and
pushed it to Nduka Uwa who sped past onrushing goalie Mostak and placed the
ball into the middle of the net (1-1)
Lima,
the Brazilian forward of Muktijoddha restored the two goal lead in the 45th
minute with another superb free kick from 20 yards out beating Titumir in the
left hand post (2-1)
Mohammedan
piled up all the pressure and made the scoreline even in the 76th minute off a
penalty. Defender Yasin was fouled by Muktijoddha midfielder Shakil at the edge
of the box and Nigerian midfielder Udeh Chigozie converted the spot kick (2-2)
Nduka Uwa capitalized a defensive lapse of
Muktiojoddha in the 87th minute but his placing shot between Brazilian defender
Rafael and goalie Mostak missed the sidepost by a few inches.
In
the last minute of the stipulated time Mamunul Islam curved a cross form the
left side and Nasiruddin Chwodhury
placed the ball over from a close range.
The
draw saw Muktijoddha take their tally to 31 points from 15 matches while
Mohammedan earned 21 points from 14 matches.
