Abahani U-16 beat Mohammedan U-16
Dhaka, June 11: Dhaka Abahani Under-16 team beat Mohammedan Under-16 on penalties in the inaugural match of the newly laid artificial turf of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Monday.
Chrysantha Perera, Assistant Development Officer of AFC, officially handed over the turf to Bangladesh Football federation on behalf of Fifa.
Senior Vice President of BFF Abdus Salam Murshedy, Vice Presidents Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Arif Khan Joy and BFF member Fazlur Rahman Babul were also attended the function and watched the match.
“This is a historic moment for Bangladesh football. This is the first time an artificial turf has been installed in Bangladesh. On behalf of BFF, I want to express my gratitude to Fifa through Perera (Chrysantha Perera).” said Abdus Salam Murshdey at the astro turf of BFF before the friendly match.
Meanwhile in the opening game, after the estimated time ended on 1-1, Abahani defeated arch rivals Mohammedan on penalties 3-0.
However, the turf was installed under Fifa’s goal project about two months ago; BFF could not get the possession as it was not officially handed over by Fifa
