Muktis winning run continued
Dhaka, June
17: Striker Mithun Chowdhury scored a brace as Muktijoddha Sangsad KC
registered their thirteen win in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier Leagueafter
beating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 3-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on
Sunday.
The win took Muktis’ tally to 43 points from 19 matches while Sheikh Jamal
remained with their previous earning 25 points from same number of matches.
Muktijoddha
struck from the beginning as their left winger Shakil Ahmed’s fierce shot from
the left flank was saved bySheikh Jamal goalie Ashim Kumar Das in the 5th
minute.
But
Muktijoddha did not have to wait long to take the lead as Midfielder Maruf
Ahmed put his team ahead in the 9th minute beating Jamal goalie Ashim Kumar Das
with a long range 30-yard rainbow shot from outside the box. (1-0)
Muktijoddha could have doubled the lead when the Nigerian forward Basden Wilcox’s
shot went outside the post despite having one-on-one position with goalie Ashim
Kumar.

Emily missed another chance in the 31st minute when he failed to
meet forward Mithun Chowdhury’s cross from the right flank.
Forward
Mithun Chowdhury scored his fifth and second for Muktijoddha in the 44th minute
when he tapped home Nasir Chowdhury’s cutback. (2-0)
After the resumption, the All Reds were very close to third in the 52nd minute
but Jamal custodian Ashim Kumar Das fisted a shot of Mithun from the box and
defender Arup Kumar Baiddya saved midfielder Mamunul Islam Mamun’s shot on
rebound from the goal line.
Muktijoddha
extended their lead to 3-0 in the stoppage time when Mithun Chowdhuy pushed a
ball into the net off a cutback of winger Nasir Chowdhury. (3-0)
