Yemen thrash BD 5-1
Dhaka, June 24: Yemen beat Bangladesh 5-1 in the AFC U-22 Championship group D qualifiers at the Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu on Sunday.
Midfielder Mohammed Al Sarori put Yemen ahead in the 14th minute as ran through the defence and placed a powerful left footer past Sobuj Das Roghu from the middle of the box (1-0).
Bangladesh forward Sohel Rana who plays for Mohammedan wasted a chance in the 21st minute after a Yeamin Munna cross reached him in the middle of the Yemen box but Sohel blasted the ball over the crosspiece.
Yemen doubled the lead in the 29th minute when forward Yaser al Garb snatched a ball from Sohel Rana in the midfield and dribbled past the defence before hitting the far post net from the left edge of the box (2-0).
Yemen defender Sadam Hossian after receiving a long ball from the midfield made his way through the left flank in the 33rd minute and scored with powerful grounder (3-0).
In the added time of the first half Sohel Rana who plays for Sheikh Jamal saw his shot punched for a corner by Yemen goalie Esam al Hakimi.
Yaser Al Gabr scored his second in the 71st minute after he dribbled past defender Raihan, Shawkat and even substitute goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel and placed the ball from an acute angle. (4-0)
Sohel Rana (Jamal ) scored the goal for Bangladesh in the 74th minute after Sohel Rana’s (Mohammedan) head on a Emon Babu corner bounced back from the crosspiece and Sohel headed in home. (4-1)
Substitute midfielder Salem Al Omzae scored the fifth in the 86th minute after Yaser Al Garb set him free with a lob and Omzae tapped it home (5-1).
In the 89th minute Sohel Rana (Feni Soccer) headed in the Yemen crosspiece on another corner of Emon Babu.
Iranian referee Jahanbazi Yadollah showed red cards to Yaser Al Garb and Motazz Qaid for non sporting gestures after the long whistle.
