Russell beat Farashganj 4-2
Dhaka, June 26: Sheikh Russell beat Farashganj 4-2 in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the BSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium on Tuesday.
Sheikh Russell took the lead in the 18th minute as Cameroonian midfielder Frank Olivier fed forward Anwar with a through pass and Anwar blasted home from close range (1-0).
Forward Yusuf doubled the lead in the 18th minute as headed home a Faisal Mahmood cross that was curved from the left flank (2-0).
In the 26th minute Farashganj defender Kaiser Ahmed Rajiv sent a low cross past the Russell defence but Siyo Zunapiyo and Ridon both failed the tap the ball in the open net.
Nigerian Alamu Bukola Olalekan scored the third in the 38th minute after Faisal Mahmood sent a through past the defence line and Bukola placed the ball in the middle of the net (3-0).
Bukola added the fourth in the 65th with a solo effort (4-0).
Farashganj’s Congolese forwars Siyo Zunapiyo reduced the margin in the 51st and 54th minute.
Russell took their tally to 29 points from 19 matches while Farashganj remained on their previous earning of 18 points form the same number of matches.
