Dhaka, October 1: Bangladesh Ansar & VDP will meet Jessore in the final of the KFC Women’s Super League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
In the first semifinal at BNS on Monday, Ansar beat Naryanganj 2-1 in a keenly contested match. Nurjahan Akter Mithila put Naryanganj ahead in the 43rd minute with a solo effort. Ansar tried hard to stage a comeback and Kabina Chakma scored the equalizer in the 61st minute. Taking a long ball of Suinu Pru Marma from the midfield, Kabina slammed home with an angular shot.
Ansar continued their dominance but wasted a number of chances before Jahanara Akter Janu scored the winner in the 83rd minute. Muslima Akter Molly, the Naryanganj goalie failed to hold a Suinu Pru Marma free kick and Janu tapped the ball home from a close range.
In the second semifinal at the same venue, Jessore prevailed over Tangail by 2-1 goals. Rikta put Tangail ahead in the 11th minute but Sharmin Akter Rupa scored the equalizer in the 17th minute. Rehana Khatun Hena netted the winner in the 28th minute.
