Dhaka, October 17: Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra beat Brothers Union by 2-0 goals to reach the semifinal of the Grameenphone Federation Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Yusuf and Brazilian Thiago Silva Tyson scored goals for the winners. Muktijoddha will meet holders sheikh Jamal in the 2nd semifinal on Saturday next. Yusuf put Muktijoddha ahead in the 6th minute after winger Shyamal Ahmed Rony sent a low cross from the left flank and Yusuf placed it in the net (1-0) Brothers worked hard for an equalizer but their forwards lacked the finishing touch. In the dying minutes of the first half forward Md. Afsar wasted two chances. He missed the line of the crosses curved by Joshua Olalekan from the right flank and on both occasions Muktijoddha goalie Zia stranded in the far post. Muktijoddha’s Brazilian forward Thiago Silva Tyson scored the second in the 78th minute as Yusuf set him free in the middle of the box with a neat cross and Thiago scored with a left footer.
