Dhaka, November 5: Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club ousted Bangladesh U-23 Team by 5-4 goals in sudden death to enter semifinals of the 2nd safal Pokhara Cup Football Tournament played at Pokhara Stadium on Monday.
The match was forced to spot kick battle after teams played 1-1 draw in regulation time. The teams were also locked at 4-4 in normal spot kick before going to sudden death.
Heman Gurung converted the first kick of sudden death but Linkon squandered the kick handing the match to Mountaineers.
Bangladesh went up in the 25th minute as a corner of Mobarak Hossain took a deflection of a Yeti defender and entered into the net.
However, the local team equalized in the 48th minute with Sachindra Dhimal heading home a cross of Dinesh Karki.
Bangladesh suffered a heart break in the 95th minute as Suren Thapa handled the ball inside the box. Referee Sudis Pandey whistled for a spot kick. But Tawhidul Alam Sabuj’s shot was saved by YHSC goalie Binaya Shrestha
