Dhaka, November 13: Defending champions Dhaka Abahani started their Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League 2012-13 campaign with a facile 3-0 victory over Soccer Club, Feni in the inaugural match held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. Abahani took the lead in the 41st minute when Ghanaian forward Twum Frank headed a cross of his compatriot Awudu Ibrahim into the far post of Feni Soccer goalie Al-Amin (1-0). Touhidul Alam scored his first in the 45th minute to double the margin as he headed home with Awudu Ibrahim again curving the cross from the right flank (2-0). In the second minute of three minute stoppage time Touhidul Alam added his second. Speeding past his marker with a through pass Abdul Baten Majumdar Komol and chipped the ball past Al-Amin (3-0) In the 80th minute Awudu Ibrahim’s fierce shot on a cross of Shakhwat Hossain Rony was punched to safety by substitute goalie Uzzal. Feni Soccers’ s Nigerian forward Victory Antoni came close to a strike in the either half of the match but wasted both. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin inaugurated the league as the chief guest. BTV DG M. Hamid and BFF Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy were also present among others.
