Dhaka, November 20: Bangladesh staged a comeback to earn a creditable 1-1 draw in the Fifa International Friendly against Malaysia at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Tuesday. Bangladesh who lost to Thailand 5-0 Saturday was a changed unit and fought hard to keep the Malaysian attackers away specially in the second half. Ace Forward Jahid Hasan Emily hit the equalizer in the 81st minute of the match. Malaysia took the lead through Khyril Muhymeen in the 22nd minute as the midfielder headed a Safiq Rahim corner into the Bangladesh net.
In the 38th minute Bangladesh goalie Mamun Khan punched a Safiq Rahim free kick for a corner. Bangladesh rarely threatened the opponents and in the penultimate minute of the first half Bangladesh bothered the Malaysian goalie for the first time.
Bangladesh defence continued to commit mistakes and the Malaysian attackers failed to extend their lead at least twice before the whistle signaled the end of the first half. Bangladesh was reduced to ten men in the 78th minute after midfielder Prantosh was sent off for a second bookable offence. Pranotosh handled the ball to earn his second yellow card. However Bangladesh overcame the shock and restored the parity in the 83rd minute. Irwan Fadzli, brought down forward Mithun Chowdory inside the penalty box and Zahid Hasan Emily stepped up and coolly slotted the ball past Malaysian goalie Farizal Marlias.
