Dhaka, November 24: Dhaka Abahani beat Arambagh by 2-1 goals in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday. Abahani went up in the 19th minute as Arambagh defender Moniruzzaman Mamun scored an own goal. Goalkeeper Mitul Hasan missed the flight of a cross curved by Waly Faisal from the left flank and the ball deflected off the feet of Mamun who was not ready to face such a situation (1-0). Cameroonian midfielder Yoko Samnick doubled the margin in the 24th minute with a fierce volley on a low cross of Awudu Ibrahim (2-0). However Arambagh hit backing the 26th minute as Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel brought Arambagh’s Nigerian forward Osondo Maurice in the box and the referee awarded a penalty, Ugandan forward Idris Kasirye converted the spot kick (2-1) Generoso Da Silva, the Brazilian forward of Abahani failed to convert a penalty in the 54th minute after Arambagh defender Morsalin Parvez fouled Abahani winger Touhidul Alam in the box. In the 79th minute Yoko Samnick was unfortunate as his back volley from the middle of the box hit the Arambagh side post. In the 89th minute Arambaghs’s Nigerian defender Ujumefon Joel was sent off with the second yellow card. Abahani has six points from two matches while Arambagh is yet to open their account.
