Dhaka, December 18: Khilgaon Football Academy will face Matuail Udayan Sangsad in the final of Dhaka (North and South) City Corporation Pioneer Football League 2012 at 5:00pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarkar will be present as the chief guest and distribute the prizes among the winners. The champions will be awarded a purse of Tk one lac and the runner-up team Tk 50 thousand respectively.
The pioneer league started in August last with 80 teams splitting into five zones and 10 different venues.
Khilgaon Football Academy came to final through beating Nasreen Football Academy 4-0 in the first semifinal while Matuail Udayan Sangsad defeated Tangail Football Academy 2-0 in the second semifinal.
The top three teams will be promoted to the third division from next season and the 20 super league clubs has urged to provide another slot. BFF Vice president Arif Khan Joy revealed these at a press briefing at the BFF House on Tuesday.
BFF Vice President and Metropolis Pioneer League Committee Chairman Arif Khan joy hoped for a good ending of the league. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated this league and now we came in the final. I hope the league will end successfully with the final.
He also hoped future stars will come out through the league. "We saw many talents in the league. We have selected around 100 players and will finally select 30 for further training.” said the former national captain.
Both Captains expressed their hope to win. Khilgaon Academy captain Md. Mithu looked forward for their win against the strong opponent.“We won 4-0 in the semifinal. We conceded only two goals from last 11 matches. So, Our defence and midfield are strong and we are hopefulfor win.” said captain.
Matuail Udayan Sangsad captain Md. Jesy was very optimistic about their win. “We don’t care what our opponent said. We are unbeaten in the last 11 matches and we will play for win.” said the captain.
BFF member and Pioneer League Committee Vice Chairman Bijon Barua, BFF Member Alomgir Hossain Alo, Pioneer League Committee Secretary Sabbir Hossain and BFF Acting Secretary Abu Naeem Shohag were also present on the occasion.
