Dhaka: December 20: In a
high-profile match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League, holders Dhaka
Abahani face Sheikh Russell KC at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday. Abahani, the table toppers with 10 points from four matches are yet to
lose a match while star-studded Sheikh Russell who has played three matches
lost to Mohammedan in their second encounter, they have 6 points in their
account. Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu hoped to continue the improving
trend. “With three wins and one draw in four matches I think we are still to
reach the peak, we are yet to play our best, I hope the boy’s will produce
their best in one of most crucial matches of the league, we will take the field
to win the match knowing Sheikh Russell is a strong opponent, however it all
depends on utilizing the chances” said Rupu. Rupu said his Iranian coach Ardeshir Pournemat is still studying his
attacking options as he did not have the full idea about the players. However
he has worked on bringing out the right combination. Sheikh Russell coach Maruful Haque was ready answer fire with fire.
“We have no options apart of winning the match, we have to win it at any cost to
stand firm in the title race, we want to reduce the difference of points, we
have the ability to win and we will prove it with allround team performance”
said Maruf. Maruf has observed that his attacking mainstay Haitian Sony Norde is
not delivering much upfront. “We have talked about it, Sony, after some good
display has been marked very closely by his opponents, I hope he will overcome
the challenges” said Maruf.
