Dhaka, January 04: Sheikh Russell moved to the top of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League with a facile 6-0 victory over ten men Arambagh at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday. In the 30th minute the deadlock was broken by a penalty. It was Jahid who was the architect of the attack, taking possession of a long ball flown by left back Nahidul Islam, Jahid was pushed to the ground by Arambagh forward Nche Francis in the middle of the box and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Ace forward Zahid HasanEmily converted the penalty to put Russell ahead (1-0). Sony Norde made it 2-0 in the very first minute after the resumption, The quick footed Haitian ran down the left flank and was in the right position to slam a side volley past Mitul Hasan after Jahid curved a neat cross from the opposite end. Arambagh’s woe doubled in the 52nd minute with the send-off of their Nigerian defender Abu Oludotun Paul. Paul who on both occasions fouled Sony Norde was not spared on the second and was shown the second yellow card. Substitute forward Mithun Chowdhury, who came in for Sony Norde scored the third in the 69th minute after Mamun Miah cut a low cross from the right hand flaf Mithun saw his shot deflect off the feet of Arambagh defender Kauser Hamid into the near post (3-0). Rajon Miah, another substitute forward put his team on a four goal cushion in the 74th minute. Moroccan midfielder Tarik el Janaby released defence splitting pass from the midfield and Rajon dribbled past Mitul Hasan before tapping the ball in the far post (4-0). Mithun added his second in the 82nd minute in a delightful way. Tarik el Janaby again produced a delicate footwork at the left flank and paved the way for Mithun who chipped the ball into the far post(5-0) Jahid scored the sixth in the stoppage time after playing a one-two with Rajon Miah and curving the ball in the near post from the right edge of the box (6-0) Russell has 15 points from six matches while Arambagh remained on their previous collection of three points
