Dhaka, January 9 : Holders Dhaka Abahani continued their winning spree in the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League beating Team BJMC by 3-1 goals reaching top of the table at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Wednesday. Team BJMC initiated the first attack in the 11th minute with their Nigerian forward Elita Kingsley but his fierce left footer missed the far post by a whisker. Abahani hit back with a counter attack in the 28th minute when Ghanaian playmaker Awudu Ibarhim curved a low cross from the right flank and but Shakhawat Rony’s placing was too weak to beat BJMC goalie Aminul who dived to his left to clear the ball. However Rony was right in target in the 33rd minute as he headed a Towhidul Alam cross in the far post net (1-0). In the 45th minute Elita Kingsley wasted another opportunity as he reacted late to receive a through pass of Henry Chindo and Abahani right back Mishu sent the ball to safety. Abahani took a two goal lead in the 52nd minute after midfielder Pranotosh’s 25 yarder deflected off the feet of defender Kestho and crashed into the net (2-0). Elita Kingsley reduced the margin in the 65th minute by heading home a cross of Ismael Bangoura who floated the ball from the right flank (2-1) Rony added his second in the 73rd minute as he received a square pass of Mishu at the edge of the six yard box and swerved his body to place the ball in the near post (3-1) Abahani has 16 points from seven matches while Team BJMC remained on their previous collection of 8 points from seven matches
