Dhaka, January 11: Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh
Russell played out a goalless draw in the Grameenphone Bangladesh
Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
With the draw Jamal went to the top with 17
points from seven matches while Russell was positioned third with 16 points
from the same number of matches.
In the 6th minute of the match Sheikh
Jamal’s Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba receiving a low free kick of winger
Shakil turned over and fired the ball just wide of the side post.
Shakil was in action again two minutes
later as his suddenly taken 25 yarder saw Russell goalie Biplob out of position
but the ball flew over the crosspiece.
Sony Norde, the Haitian forward of Sheikh
Russell taking an Emily backheel went through the defence in the 24th minute
but was cursing the lady luck when his fierce grounder rebounded off the side
post on Jamal goalie Mostak.
After the resumption Sheikh Russell
dominated the scene but failed to break the deadlock. In the 63rd minute
Russell’s Moroccan midfielder Tarik el Janaby curved a free kick from the top
of the box but Mostak dived full to take control.
Russell’s substitute forward Rajon Mia let
his team down in the 71st minute as his tap on a Mamunul Islam free kick went
straight to Mostak who pulled out a reflex save.
