Dhaka, January 28: Holders Abahani Ltd started their second phase of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League with a hard fought 3-2 win over hosts Soccer Club, Feni at the Feni Stadium on Monday.
Ghanaian playmaker Awudu Ibrahim put Abahani ahead in the third minute of the match. Ghanaian midfielder Twum Frank doubled the lead in the 47th minute and Sakhawat Hossain Rony added the third in the 51st minute.
After conceding three goals, Soccer Club came back in the match through their new recruit Ariful Haque Saikat in the 63rd minute. Another newly recruit Liberian striker Anthony Pole Doe netted the second goal for the home team in the 74th minute.
With the win, Abahani took their tally to 20 points from 9 matches while Soccer Club remained their previous collection 3 points from the same number of matches.
