Dhaka, February 3: Sheikh Russell staged a brilliant comeback to beat Team BJMC 4-3 in a fiercely contested match of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday. BJMC shocked their opponents in the very 5th minute of the match when Nigerian forward Elita Kingsley snatched the attempted back pass of Russell’s Bosnian defender Bojan Petric and beat goalie Biplob from the six yard box (1-0). Eleta Kingsley sent Russell to more trouble in the 15th minute as he ran down the left flank and sent a low cross to Toklis Ahmed who placed the ball into the net (2-0). However Haitian forward of Sheikh Russell Sony Norde in the 55th minute pulled his team back to the game as he scored his first goal with a solo effort after dribbling past BJMC’s Nigerian defender Henry Chindo and scored from a difficult angle (2-1) In the 58th minute it was Sony Norde again whose powerful shot slipped away from the grip of Aminul and Jahid tapped the ball into the net (2-2) Sony Norde scored a super goal to put Russell ahead in the 64th minute. His powerful grounder form the right edge of the box gave Aminul no chance (3-2). Guinean forward of Ismael Bangoura restored the parity in the 73rd minute as he headed an Abul Hossain cross in the near post of Biplob (3-3) But a penalty in the 85th minute hanged the balance towards Russell. Aminul fouled Jahid in the middle of the box and Moroccan midfielder Tarek el Janaby scored from spot (4-3) Sheikh Russell took their tally to 22 points from nine matches while BJMC remained on their previous collection of 12 from 10 matches.
