Dhaka, February 9: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Sheikh Russell 1-0 in the second leg of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday. Mohammedan also beat Russell 3-1 in the first leg match. Sheikh Russell initiated the first attack in the 21st minute when winger Jahid Hossain cut a low cross to Bukola Olalekan whose tapped effort was foiled by Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan. In the 32nd minute Mohammedan saw their Nigerian forward Osie Morrison’s fierce left footer on a Sohel Rana cross flew over the crosspiece. Osie Morrison missed another chance in the 52nd minute when he again blasted over the crosspiece. However Mohammedan took the lead in the 54th minute after Topu Barman, the young defender hit the Russell net with a fierce right footer from the top of the box. The ball came to him after a Maruf Ahmed free kick was cleared by the Russell defence (1-0). In the 72nd minute Mohammedans Nigerian defender Ude Damian cleared a Sony Norde flick from the goalline. Mohammedan took their tally to 16 points from 11 matches while Russell previous earning of 22 points from 10 matches.
