Dhaka,
February 20: Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Arambagh Krira Sangha
as the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Women’s Football League will kick off at the
Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday next.
A
total of eight teams comprising into two groups are taking part in the meet. Top
two teams from the each group will enter into semifinals.
The
final match will take place at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on March 5.
The convener of the league and deputy chairman
of the women’s football league committee Mahfuza Akter Kiron disclosed the
details of the meet at a press conference held at the BFF conference room on Saturday.
“We had five teams last year but this year we
have 8 teams. The response is better with the addition of three new clubs. The
more we play league football the more the standard will get better,” said
Kiron.
The budget of the meet is approximately Tk
5.25 lacs where sponsors Walton will provide Tk 4.5 lacs. Every team will get
Tk 30 thousand as participant money while the champions and runners-up will
receive Tk 50 thousand and Tk 30 thousand respectively. Best Player and highest
scorer of the league will also be awarded.
Women
Wings Chairman Sirajul Islam Bachchu was very happy as the Walton come forward again
being sponsored. “We do thank Walton to come forward as sponsor again to develop
women football. We are waiting for their big support in the future. We hope the
next national team players would be selected from the league.”
Senior Deputy Director and Chief of Sports of RB Group Iqbal Bin Anwar is
also delighted to support again women team. “We have always tried to touch with
women football and will try to support total women football at a time.”
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, other BFF and Walton officials were also present on the occasion.

A: Mohammedan, Arambagh, Dipalee Jubo Sangha and Jatrabari Krira SanghaGroup B: Abahani Ltd, Soccer Club,
Bangladesh Police SC and Nasrin Sports Academy.
