U-16: MSC lift the title
Dhaka, March 08: Mohammedan Sporting Club limited lifted the title of
the Grameenphone U-16 Football Tournament beating Muktijoddh Sangsad KC 3-0 in the
final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Muktijoddha were very close to lead in the 27th minute but
striker Ibrahim’s 20 yards shot was saved by Mohammedan goalie Pappu Hossain.
Midfielder Md. Jintu broke the deadlock in the 36th minute
for Mohammedan with a superb free kick from the edge of box. (1-0)
The all Red got another chance to level the score when striker Asik
Sarker’s shot went inches over the crosspiece in the 45th minute.
Midfielder Md. Rajib doubled the lead for the black and white in the 60th minute. Striker Sujoy put a through pass to Rajib who placed the ball over advancing goalie Nazir Hossain Shawon into the net. (2-0).
Md. Shahin sealed the victory for Mohammedan by a placing shot on a
rebound in the stoppage time after his shot on Jintu’s pass was failed to grip by
Muktijoddha's goalie Shawon. (3-0)
Rajib of Mohammedan was awarded Man of the Final, Ibrahim (4) of
Muktijoddha was awarded Highest Scorer and Md. Atikuzzaman of Mohammedan was
awarded Man of the Tournament.
BFF Senior Vice President Abdus Salam Murshedy distributed the prizes
among the winners as chief guest.
BFF Member Fazlur Rahman Babul, Hasanuzzaman Bablu and General
Secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag and other officials of BFF and Tournament committee were also present on the occasion.
