Dhaka, March 28: Brothers Union routed Farashganj Sporting Club 2-0 in the group B match of the ATN Bangla Independence Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Thursday.
Brothers dominated the whole match but had to wait their first goal until first half injury time when Nigerian midfielder Samson Illiasu broke the deadlock with a placing shot after Farashganj defenders failed to clear the ball in the box. (1-0)
Earlier, Brothers Union had chance in the 31st minute to take the lead but Brazilian striker Garcia Anderson's placing shot was saved by Farashganj goalie Md. Shahanshah who dived to the right.
Brothers got another chance to double the lead but unmarked Nigerian defender Adams Jankasa’s header went straight to the Farashganj custodian’s gloves from a cross of defender Rashed Biplob from the right flag.
The all orange sealed the fate of the match through striker Kingsley Chigozie whose fierce shot hit the top of the net from the edge of the box in the 76th minute. (2-0)
