Dhaka, March 31: Sheikh Jamal moved into the final of the ATN Bangla Independence Cup with a 1-0 win over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club in the first semifinal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday. Mohammedan came close to a strike in the 4th minute but midfielder Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan , standing in the middle of the box missed the line of a low cross curved by Nigerian midfielder Sesan Idowu. Mobarak again found Jamal goalie Sultan Ahmed Shakil alone in the 20th minute but his chip was blocked by onrushing Jamal goalie Shakil. In the 62nd minute Jamal’s Nigerian forward Alfred Emoefe saw his powerful shot taken from the middle of the box was punched to safety by Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan. However an own goal arrived as the decider in the 74th minute when Mamun Khan failed to clear a chip of Alamgir Kabir Rana properly and Emoefe header went into the net before deflecting of Mohammedan defender Baybeck (1-0) Jamal will meet the winner of the second semifinal between Sheikh Russell and Muktijoddha on Tuesday.
