Dhaka, May 18: Bangladesh Football Federation is all set to kick off
the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 2014 group B qualifiers at Bangabandhu National
Stadium on Tuesday next. Hosts Bangladesh, Iran, Thailand and Philippines are participating in
the group where the champions will qualify to the final round. The total budget of this group match is 60 lacs taka. PIZZA Hut, a sister concern of KFC, will
provide 15 lacs Tk as sponsor. A purse of 32 lacs Tk will be provided by AFC as
participation money and rest of the expenses will be provided by BFF. These
were disclosed in a press conference by BFF women wing deputy chairman Mahfuz
Akter Kiron at the BFF House on Saturday. Kiron is hopeful Bangladesh girls will do better in the qualifiers. “Our preparation is satisfactory. Our girls
will do better than the previous qualifiers as they fared well in the practices
matches against West Bengal teams.” said Kiron. Pizza Hut area coach Rupom Proshonno Thakur feels proud to be sponsored
women’s qualifiers. “We are very proud to sponsor here. We were with women
football and we will be in the future. Bangladesh is advancing, we hope women
team will do better.” Told Ropon. The meet kicks off on 21st May with the match between Iran and Philippines followed
by Bangladesh taking on Thailand. On 23rd May Philippines will play
against Thailand and Bangladesh will meet Iran. On the last day of the meet 25th
May, Thailand plays against Iran and Bangladesh lock horns with Philippines in
the last match. The match timings are 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. BFF women wing chairman Sirajul Islam Bachchu, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, assistant media and marketing manager Ashikur Rahman Habibe Rabbi
were also present on the occasion.
