Brothers Union was held to a goalless draw by Chittagong Mohammedan in the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Friday.
The draw took Brothers Union’s tally to 10 points from 6 matches while Chittagong Mohammedan added another point to their previous earning of five from the same number of encounters.
Brothers Union drew the first blood in the six minutes as Biplob’s head off a Sabuj cross went over the crosspiece.
Both Brothers union and Chittagong Mohammedan SC started their second half with attacking mood after a barren first half.
The Gopibag outfit missed their best opportunity when their striker Taru’s penalty shot out was saved by CTG MSC goal keeper Uttam Barua in the 72nd minute.
The port city visitors missed two opportunities in the second half. On the first occasion in the 52nd minute Liberian recruit Anthony Pal Doe’s head from Touhidul free kick hit the crossbar. Veteran forward Farhad’s free kick found the net in the 59th minute but the goal was overruled by referee due to offside.
At the Osmani Stadium in Narayanganj Shuktara Jubo Sangsad also shared point with Beanibazar Sporting Club as they made a goalless draw.
The visiting Beanibazar and home side are now 10th and 11th position in the point table as they got three and two points respectively.
