Substitute Ashraful Quader Monju’s double strike helped Soccer Club Feni to earn their second win in the Citycell Bangladesh League as they recorded a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Muktijoddha Sangsad on Saturday at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur in Dhaka.
Muktijoddha’s striker Tipu put the home side ahead after 12 minutes when his left-footed shot following a through pass from Titu found the net.
The visitors came all out after conceding the goal and got a few chances to level the margin in the first half but all their efforts went in vain.
The men from Feni found an opportunity to level when Soccer Club’s Guinean defender headed a corner by Asif Yousuf in the 18th minute but Muktijoddha keeper Nizam made a fine save.
Iqbal had only Nizam to beat after meeting a cross by Raju in the 34th minute but fired straight to the Muktijoddha goalie. Soccer club started the second half aggressively but had to wait till 62 minutes.
Veteran striker Monju, who replaced Iqbal in the 50th minute, equalized when he nodded home a free kick by Mintu Sheikh 12 minutes after his arrival on the pitch.
Seven minutes later Muktijoddha’s experienced winger Kanchan got an opportunity but his acrobatic effort hit the crossbar.
Monju then sealed the victory for the Feni side with a powerful header in the 75th minute when he met a cross by Raju from the left flank.
The second win put Soccer Club into the fifth place in the points table with seven points from five matches while Muktijoddha remained bottom of the table without any collection from same number of encounters.
