May 25: Star striker Nisa Romyen’s hat-trick helped Thailand to secure the final
round slots of AFC Women’s Asian Cup Group B qualifiers beating Iran 5-1 in
their last match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Nisa
Romyen broke the deadlock for Thailand in the 46th minute with a back
header off a corner of Wilaiporn Boothduang from the left flag. (1-0).
It
was Nisa who doubled the lead for Thailand in the 65th minute by a
solo effort. After capitalizing a long pass of Supaporn Gaewbaen, the Thais
goal machine dodged past three opponent defenders and placed the ball into the
net. (2-0).
Thailand’s
score turned into third through their forward Anootsara Maijarern in the 70th
minute from re-bounder. Striker Nisa’s grounder was blocked by Iranian custodian
Maryam Yekteai with legs but the ball went to Anootsara whose powerful shot hit
the top of net. (3-0).
Midfielder
Naphat Seesraum added the fourth in the 74th minute with an angular
shot from the edge of the box on a back pass of Nisa. (4-0).
Iran
reduced the margin when forward Sara Ghomi placed the ball into the net after
Thais goalie Waraporn Boonsing failed to grip a shot of Iranian striker Maryam
Rahim. (4-1).
The
star striker Nisa, who completed her second hat-trick in this meet and sealed
the victory for Thais with an angular shot from the box in the 86th
minute.
