Dhaka,
June 10: Sheikh Jamal and Brothers Union both expressed their desire to win the
Super cup and end their title drought in the official pre-tournament briefing
at the BFF House on Monday.
“We
were the runners-up of the Bangladesh Premier League and other two professional
tournaments (Federation Cup and Independence Cup). It was unfortunate and we
know where our faults were. This is the last chance to prove ourselves and to
win something this season. We are giving our best and will fight for the
championship," said Jamal skipper Hasan Al Mamun.
"It's
really good for country's football as there are no foreign players in the Super
Cup. The junior and local players who didn’t get chance for the foreign players
will get a chance to prove them in the meet. Our first target is to qualify
from the group stage and reach the semifinal to bring back the glory of
Brothers," said its manager Amer Khan.
In
the absence of Nigerian coach Joseph Afusi, former Brothers coach Wasim Iqbal
will be in charge for Jamal for the Super Cup and Mohidur Rahman Miraj will be
the head coach of Brothers Union.
