Abahani focused to retain title
Dhaka, June 12: Reigning champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd expressed firm confidence to win the Super Cup and to finish its title drought of the season in the pre-tournament press briefing held at the BFF House on Wednesday.
Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra also echoed the same tune in the same venue.
Abahani manager Satyajit Das Rupu pledged to bounce back.
“We didn’t have good time this season and when we thought we ended the season empty handed, Super Cup comes in. Now we have the opportunity to gain something from this season.
“We had six players injured in the last part of the premier league which cost us the title” said Rupu
Coach Amalesh Sen said.
“The formation will be different and would not be the same as when we played foreign players. We have been working for last one week to settle our formation and whichever suits us, we will field that,”
Muktijoddha coach Shafiqul Islam Manik was ready to fight it out.
“Super Cup is a blessing for us, clubs get financially benefitted from it. My team is not in a good position in pen and papers. As there is no foreign player in the Super Cup, teams with most number of national players are being considered as the favourites but football is a game how a team performs in particular day so anything can happen, we will fight for the championship.
Captain Jahirul Islam said
“If we can implement the lessons we have learnt from coach in the training, we will do good. We will prove who is the best in the pitch.
