MSC pip BJMC
Dhaka, June 15: Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Team BJMC 1-0 in the second match of Group B in the Grameenphone Super Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
BJMC would have taken the lead in the 23rd minute but their forward Mahadi Hasan Tapu failed to connect the head on a cross of Md. Toklis from the right flank.
Mohammedan went ahead in the 27th minute through their winger Mobarak Hossain who opened the score off a spot kick. Speedy Mobarak was brought down from behind by BJMC defender Amit Khan Suvro in the box. The referee Azad Rahman whistled for penalty. Mobarak converted the spot kick. (1-0)
BJMC’s best chance came in the 58th minute but Didarul Alam squandered the opportunity having open net. After a long chase with the ball, the substitute winger Ali Akber Kanon put a curling cross to unmarked Didarul Alam who placed the ball over the crosspiece with Mohammedan goalie Mamun Khan at his mercy.
Mamun Khan saved Mohammedan from conceding a goal in the 86th minute. BJMC winger Ali Akber Kanon took a powerful curling shot from 20 yards to the post but goalie Mamun Khan fisted away the ball diving to his right.
