Dhaka, June 18: Muktijoddha stepped closer to a semifinal slot of the
Grameenphone Super Cup beating Feni Soccer 2-0 in their last match of group A
at the Bangbandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
The win saw Muktijoddha earn four points while Feni Soccer ended their
run with one point.
Muktijoddha had a chance to take the lead in the 35th
minute but midfielder Zahid Parvez solo effort went in vain due to poor
finishing. Snatching a ball from midfield Parvez entered into the box and after
evading two defenders and took poor shot straight to Soccer goalie Masud Ahmed
Uzzal.
Soccer Club also came close to a goal in the 44th minute
but midfielder Sharan Hawlader’s volley was blocked by a defender in front of
the post on corner of midfielder Rony Islam.
After a barren first half, Muktijoddha’s booters came in all-out
attack and they broke the dead lock in the 48th minute through Zahid
Parvez. The playmaker scored with a fierce angular shot just outside of the
box.
Md. Biplob squandered of Muktijoddha an opportunity in the 54th
minute having open net but the striker’s shot on edge of six yards box went
over the crosspiece on square pass of Md. Rony no one in front him.
In the stoppage time Md. Ibrahim scored the second with a placing shot
on a pass of Md. Biplob (2-0)
