Mobarak propels MSC to final
Dhaka, June 22: Winger Mobarak Hossain guided Mohammedan Sporting Club to the final after beating Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakkra 2-0 in the Grameenphone
Super Cup 2nd semifinal at the Bangbandhu National Stadium on
Saturday.
Rajani had a chance to put MSC ahead in the 13th minute but
he failed to connect a low cross that was provided by midfielder Habibur Rahman Shohag from a free kick.
Midfielder Mobarak of Mohammedan squandered another opportunity in the 31st minute to take the lead when he entered into the box and took a shot which went straight
to Muktijoddha goalie Ziaur Rahman Zia.
Forward Md. Biplob frustrated Muktijoddha in the 43rd
minute. After intercepting a ball from opponent defender Mintu Sheikh the blond
hair striker entered into the box but he put the ball straight to the goalie
Mamun Khan.
However, Mohammedan broke the dead lock in the 45th minute through
their striker Wahed Ahmed who rose to head home after Mobarak dodged past opponent defender Pradip Barua and cut a nice curved
cross in the box. (1-0)
Mobarak doubled the margin in the 61st minute and it was a brilliant
effort. Carrying a through pass of Wahed, the speedy winger made an angular run
and chipped the ball over Muktojoddha goalie Zia at the far post (2-0).
Muktijoddha were close in the 81st minute to reduce the margin but goalie Mamun Khan punched away a brilliant
curling free kick of substitute midfielder Shihab.
The traditional black and white will fight to earn the first trophy of this season against treble winners Sheikh Russell KC at the same stadium on Tuesday.
