Russell-MSC Final on Tuesday
Dhaka, June 23: Sheikh Russell will lock horns Dhaka Mohammedan in the final of the Grameenphone Super Cup at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday. The final billed to start at 6:00 pm will be shown live at BTV.
The pre-final presser was held at the BFF House on Sunday and both the coaches Maruful Haque of Russell and Saiful Bari Titu of Mohammedan expressed confidence of winning the title. “I told to my players not to take pressure and take it as inspiration. We are enjoying it and everyone is determined for the fourth title,” he added.
Maruf however showed high respect to his opponents. “Mohammedan team is a mixture of youth and experience. Everyone is performing together. They reached the final deservedly,” said Maruf.
Mohammedan coach Saiful Bari Titu said they will continue their attacking football in the final too. “Quality football is possible without foreign players – I personally want to see it in the final. Like we played our opening match, we want to play attacking in the final also,” hoped Titu.
Maruf wanted allout teamwork from his players while Titu said he will be looking out to stop Russell’s attacking trio of Mamunul Islam, Jahid Hossain and Zahid Hasan Emily.
Mohammedan won the Super Cup back in 2009, finished runners-up in 2011 and its their third consecutive final. Sheikh Russell will be playing their first final.
