Salahuddin tipped to remain Saff president
Dhaka, September 11: Kazi Salahuddin, the president of the Bangladesh Football Federation is set to retain the post of president of the South Asian Football Federation.
The general meeting of the Saff executive committee took place at the Hotel Annapurna yesterday and All Nepal Football Association president Ganesh Thapa was quoted by GoalNepal.com as saying there will be no presidential election this term and the current executive committee was happySalahuddin’s leadership. "Current president KaziSalahuddin is doing very good and we have asked him to continue the helm, there is no problem in the committee, "said Ganesh Thapa.
Saff general secretary AlbertoColaco confirmed that India would host the championship in 2015in accordance with its contract with marketing partner World Sports Group (WSG).
However the long awaited Saff Club Championship’s fate remained undecided. It was learnt that the WSG will examine the matter closely and make a decision within two months. The final decision regarding the presidency will be taken in November next in the SAFF congress.
Meanwhile the executive committee also decided to introduce the SAFF U-19 Championship from 2015. The current committee introduced SAFF U-16 and women’s championship in the last four years and the next edition will be played at Pakistan.
